E-bike
conversion.

I converted a second-hand bike into an e-bike, then added suspension upgrades to make it my own.

The idea

After watching YouTube videos of people converting their bikes, I wanted to try it myself. The lower cost compared with buying a ready-made e-bike appealed to me, so I bought a second-hand bike through Facebook.

Choosing the kit

Before ordering, I checked that the conversion kit would fit the bike. I bought a kit from Amazon with a motor, controller, brake sensors, display, pedal-assist sensor, and lights.

The conversion

I removed the original rear wheel and transferred its gear assembly to the replacement motor wheel. Then I installed the conversion components, including the brake sensors, pedal-assist sensor, display, and lights.

Making it more comfortable

I also added a suspension stem at the handlebars and suspension at the seat. By the end, I had changed much more than just the motor and wheel.
